November - National Adoption Month

In celebration of National Adoption month, we would love to hear your stories about what adoption has meant to you and your family. Even if you are someone who has just considered it or knows someone who has adopted, we would love to know your thoughts.

How have you been touched by adoption and how has it changed your life? What were your preconceived ideas about adoption and have they changed? What surprised you the most about adoption?

  2. We adopted our daughter on National Adoption Day in 2000. It was a very difficult journey, but one that changed our lives for the better in a million ways! I can't imagine the joy we would have missed if we had not walked the hard road and followed where God led.

  3. Adoption has immeasurably enriched our life in the person of our Li'l Empress. She fills our home with energy, joy, and laughter. She has brought out a tenderness and compassion in our other children that I treasure. She is a dream come true.

But equally enriching has been all the connecting and learning from other adoptive families that we've experienced. This community of adoption has taught us so much about our faith, about the character of God, and about the joy of surrendering "Me" for the greater purposes HE has for us.

We are richer. Wiser. More tuned in to the heart of God. Blessed.

  4. I am an adoptee, and a mother to three daughters who I didn't carry in my womb, but they were certainly born in my heart. And, I am one who has walked many adoptive families through their adoption journeys. With that in mind, I thought I might share with you what I REALLY think about adoption...

I believe that the concept of adoption was first birthed in the heart of God for us, His children.

I believe that adoption is a miracle that starts with an open mind and heart.

I believe that adoption is a blessing that reaches beyond just the immediate family, but to all who are fortunate enough to be a part of the journey.

Adoption means that one child will never again be lost and alone.

I believe that when we lay down our life for the sake of a precious orphaned child and open our heart to unconditionally love that child, we are reflecting God’s heart and unconditional love toward us.

I believe that every child, regardless of their age, gender, or physical need, deserves to know the love of a forever family.

I do not believe that adoption is about giving a child to a family, but it is about giving a family to a child.
